City DPW Sets Open Yard Waste Pick-up Schedule

GLENS FALLS – The Department of Public Works will begin the Spring 2017 open pick-up of lawn waste in the City on Monday, April 10 and continue through Friday, May 26. During open pick-up, property owners may place grass clippings and leaves in piles at the curb for pickup. Brush and limbs in a diameter of no greater than 4 inches should be bundled in lengths no longer than 3 feet and not mixed in with leaves and grass. Please do not mix topsoil, sod, trash or any heavy materials in with piles of leaves and grass.


Crews will start in Ward 3, followed by Ward 2, then Ward 1, Ward 4 and finally Ward 5. Once a street has been cleared, crews will not return to recanvas the street until the Fall open pickup period commences in October. After May 26, yard waste should be bagged in biodegradable bags and placed at the curb for pickup. Please note that the City does not provide pick-up services for major clearing operations or to commercial establishments.


Once the open pick-up period is over, weekly bag pick-up will resume on the following schedule: Tuesdays, Ward 3; Wednesdays, Ward 2; Thursdays, Ward 4 & 5; Fridays, Ward 1.
