An historic house that combines the heritage of the Adirondack Region with a distinguished
permanent collection of important decorative arts, antique furnishings, and works by masters
such as da Vinci, Rubens, Rembrandt, Picasso, Whistler, and Homer. A modern art museum
complex provides additional gallery spaces for changing world-class exhibitions throughout the
year.
Museum hours:  Tues-Sat: 10am–5pm; Sunday: noon–5pm. Closed Mondays and 
major holidays. Admission is FREE to the general public however, donations are appreciated.
Group tours:  $4.00 per person; complimentary admission for driver and escort.

Located on scenic City Park, the Arts Council is home to one of New York State’s first and finest
arts centers. As part of this complex, the Lapham Gallery displays fine art and craft created by
regional artists and becomes a unique holiday shop & gift boutique from mid-November through the
Christmas holidays. It also houses an ongoing gift shop featuring works of over 35 LARAC member
artists. Of special note is their 165-booth juried June Fine Arts and Crafts Festival held annually
the second full weekend of June.

The Park Theater

The Park Theater opened December 23, 1911 for silent movies and vaudeville. It was built
by Isaac Ginsberg and Mr. Bellen for $18,000
. The theater had fixed seats and an inclined floor
with an elevated stage.
In 1984, the building was scheduled for demolition and saved by Dr. Harold Kirkpatrick, who
purchased the building. The building reopened October 9, 2005 as a performing arts
center.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                

World Awareness Children’s Museum
Currently closed but moving soon to 89 Warren Street; call for opening date.

Discover the fascinating history of Glens Falls and its connection to The Adirondacks. Visit the the
DeLong House where you will glimpse into the daily lives of the DeLong family and experience life at
the dawn of the 20th Century. Changing exhibits feature spectacular views of Lake George and the
Adirondacks made famous by the 19th century photographer Seneca Ray Stoddard. Regional books
and unique gifts available in the Museum Shop.
Hours:  Open year round. Tues–Sat: 10am–4pm; Sunday: noon to 4pm; closed Mondays
and major holidays.

Cooper’s Cave

Located under Cooper’s Cave Bridge between South Glens Falls & Glens Falls.
Made famous by James Fenimore Cooper’s novel The Last of the Mohicans, visit the hiding site of
Hawkeye and his companions where they attempted their escape. Viewing platform with interpretive
signage. Part of New York State’s historic Independent Trail
Open Memorial Day through Columbus Day. Free admission. Must arrange group tours in advance
of visit by calling (518) 761-3864.

As part of the old Champlain Canal system built in 1817, and now part of New York State’s 524
miles of canals, the Feeder Canal is an historic link to the vital waterways of the past. Learn how
the canal served in contributing to the bounty of the North Country In 1985 it was placed on the
State and National Historic Registers. No charge. Open Memorial Day through Columbus

Between the Chapman Historical Museum on 348 Glen Street and The Hyde Collection
on 161 Warren Street.
A self-guided walking tour that follows a variety of routes; 26 buildings of 
architectural and historical interest are highlighted. Maps available at 
the locations listed above or at City Hall, 42 Ridge Street,

Glens Falls Guided Walking Tour 

An experienced tour guide will lead the trip and cover the history and heritage of the

downtown area of the city, as well as the modern updates to the city, including Barton

Mine’s “green” building. We’ll cover famous people from Glens Falls, as well as

interesting stories about the people and places you will visit.

The tour is available for ages 12 and older. After dinner tours are our specialty so

you can walk off those extra calories. And it’s much cooler then in July and August.

The tours cover about 1 mile over 90 minutes. Shorter options are available.

Costs are: 1-5 people $75.00; 6 to 20 people $120.00. Costs are payable in

advance via check or money order. Call for reservations or more information at

Group rain dates: For groups staying at the Queensbury Hotel, we have a special

Powerpoint “virtual tour” of the same walking tour. You can stay dry and still learn
