Responsibilities
The Department of Community Development offers housing rehabilitation grants for low to moderate income families and sponsors a first time homebuyers program.

All services are for the City of Glens Falls residents only, with the exception of the first time homebuyer's program. For a brochure or application, contact the Community Development Office at (518) 761-3833.

NOTICE: Glens Falls Community Development Public Engagement Citizen Participation  "On the Road" series is upcoming.

The Community Development Office is undertaking an outreach to the public and several organizations serving low and moderate families/individuals throughout the City in the coming weeks:

Several public information meetings regarding the 5 year Consolidated Funding and 1 Year Action Plan are being held in each ward of the City

Schedule of Pubic Engagement Activities:

Mon., March 2, 2015 6:30pm Abraham Wing School, 120 Lawrence St., Gym

Tues., March 3, 7:00pm Jackson Heights, 24 Jackson Avenue, Gym  

Wed., March 4, 6:30pm   Glens Falls Middle School, 20 Quade Street

Thurs., March 5, 6:30 pm Larose Garden Apartments (Community Room), 25 Larose St and @ 7pm NAACP Meeting Village Green Apartments (Community Room).

Mon., March 9, 6:30pm Big Cross School, 15 Big Cross Street, Gym

Meetings with nonprofit organizations that serve low/moderate income families are also being scheduled. 

Following this series of public information sessions and meetings with community  organizations; the Second Public Hearing will be held Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at 7:15pm at City Hall  42 Ridge Street , Glens Falls, 3rd Floor Council  Chambers. The hearing will  outline the  proposed overall 5 Year Comprehensive Action Plan (2015-2019) along with the proposed first year 2015 Community Development Action Plan for 2015. It is expected that the Council will consider adoption of the 5 Year Comprehensive Plan and Year 1 Action Plan on Tuesday May 26, 2015.
