Public Notice Regarding Hudson River Drawdown
Boralex Hydro Operations Inc. will temporarily lower the water level in the Hudson River between the Feeder Dam in Glens Falls and the Glens Falls Dam (adjacent to the Route 9 bridge between Glens Falls and South Glens Falls) for maintenance work on its hydroelectric gates.
The water level in this area will decrease eight feet (from 269 feet in elevation to 261 feet) for approximately one week, beginning Sunday, Sept. 29. The viewing platform for Cooper’s Cave on the South Glens Falls side of the river will remain open and is not impacted by this work.
The maintenance work involves replacing seals on the facility’s crest gates that were damaged from significant icing and high flows earlier this year.
Boralex develops, builds and operates renewable energy power facilities, and has seven hydroelectric facilities across New York State, including in South Glens Falls/Glens Falls, Moreau/Hudson Falls, Middle Falls and Warrensburg. Boralex encourages safe public use of the river and reminds the public to always remain aware of changing conditions.
