  1. Game of Logging Level 1 Course

    April 21, 2021, All Day

    Cornell Cooperative Extension will be offering three Game of Logging courses in April 2021. Game of Logging Level 1 course will focus on introducing the participant to open face felling and to develop techniques to safely fall a tree. Topics include: personal protective equipment, chainsaw safety features, chainsaw reactive forces, bore cutting, pre-planning the fell, and understanding hinge wood strength. Participants need to bring safety equipment (hard hat/shield; hearing protection; chaps; steel toe boots...), chainsaw and lunch. Due to a generous grant from International Paper and the Capital Region Industrial Development Agency cost per person, per class is only $45.00. Pre-registration is required. Payment must be received in full no less than 10 days prior to workshop date and no refunds if canceling 7 days prior to the course. Liming and bucking techniques will be introduced, springpole cutting is covered and more felling is practiced.   4. "Tell Your Earth Day Story" Community Art Event

    April 22, 2021, 11:30 AM - 6:00 PM @ City Park, Outside Crandall Public Library

    Sustainable PR, a green-focused PR agency, is partnering with local Glens Falls business and community groups to host an event April 22 to celebrate Earth Day & spark conversations about what a bright — and green — future will look like. The kid-friendly “Tell Your Earth Day Story” community art event will run from 11:30 am to 6:00 pm outside Crandall Public Library in City Park, and will feature a public chalkboard art installation where participants of all ages can write and draw their messages of hope for Earth Day and what “sustainability” means to them. All activities will be outdoors & will include green giveaways and vegan-friendly treats from local sponsors. Host Sustainable PR will be giving out plant seedlings to attendees, and local event sponsors will be providing complimentary snacks including vegan-friendly peanut butter protein balls from Juicin’ Jar, a Glens Falls health-focused eatery, and spring water from JUST Water, a trailblazer in sustainably sourced packaging

  5. Game of Logging Storm Damage Response

    Cornell Cooperative Extension will be offering three Game of Logging courses in April 2021. On April 23rd the Game of Logging Storm Damage Response course will focus on addressing the unique hazards inherent in storm damaged settings. This training is meant to provide saw users the information and techniques demanded by this dangerous environment and the forces and pressures of wind felled trees.
